Starwood’s “Better by the Night” offer is set to launch on January 9.  From January 9 through April 8, 2012 you will earn double points for two night stays and triple points for stays of three or more nights.   You must register using that link starting on January 9 in advance.  As I have said on this blog many times, Starwood points are a favorite of mine due to the number of airlines you can transfer points to.  (I transfer them into my American and Delta accounts at a 1:1 ratio).  And every time you transfer 20,000 points you get a 5,000 point bonus.  If you use Starwoods points at their hotels, free nights count towards elite status as well.  With this promotion there is not a limit on the points that you can earn.  The only disadvantage of this promotion is that you won’t earn anything for a one night stay.
